Ruud van Nistelrooy Offered Coaching Role

According to multiple credible reports, former Manchester United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy has been approached by the club to join Erik ten Hag's coaching staff at Old Trafford.
The 47-year-old Dutchman is said to be "thrilled" at the prospect of working under Ten Hag, whom he has previously praised as one of the great Dutch coaches. Van Nistelrooy played for Manchester United between 2001 and 2006, scoring 150 goals in 219 appearances and winning several trophies, including the Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup and Community Shield.

Weighing Up His Options

In addition to the Manchester United coaching role, Van Nistelrooy is also reportedly in contention to become the new manager of Championship club Burnley, following Vincent Kompany's departure to Bayern Munich. The former striker is set to make a decision on his future in the coming days as he weighs up his options.

Ten Hag's Future Secured

The news of Van Nistelrooy's potential return to Manchester United comes after the club's new owner, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, conducted an extensive end-of-season review that included speaking to several potential replacements for Ten Hag. However, Ratcliffe ultimately opted to stick with the Dutchman, with United's FA Cup win over rivals Manchester City reportedly tipping the scales in Ten Hag's favour.

As Ten Hag looks ahead to his third season at Old Trafford, he is reportedly intent on bringing in his compatriot to serve on the coaching staff for the coming campaign.
